Okie, for those who really don't know what's going on, The Adam Carson Project is a three part urban legend/fanfiction written by OffspringAFIlovin'Outsider, more commonly known as Outsider The Marshmallow or just Outsider. As she states, the original idea came from her friend Offman. In its own sick and twisted way, it explains how members of AFI came to join and leave the band, as well as why the music came to change as it did. There was also a picture involved in the formulation of this twisted tale, which I will link to as soon as I rediscover the address. It's kind of hard review the story without giving it away, so this isn't going to be the best review ever written. Anyway, the story is riddled with real facts, some of which were thought to be fiction, as far as I know, until recently. Besides the obvious ficticious occurences on which the story centres, it sticks very close to the facts. Never let it be said that Outsider doesn't know her stuff. Nor that Gavin doesn't have a life. ::ahem:: You'll understand when you read it. I don't recommend attempting to print it off to read at your leisure, it's 68 pages typewritten. Thus my whole problem with nearly overheating the poor laptop. If you're just getting into AFI, I strongly suggest you familiarise yourself with a few things beforehand, as they muchly enhance the story. First and foremost, know a little about the history of the band. I am, slowly but surely, writing a factual biography of the band, but even being familiar with the Nitro bio should suffice. Look into the recording of Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes. Interviews from that timeframe proved invaluable background for me. Also, if nothing else, be sure you know God Called in Sick Today and Coin Return quite well. QUITE well. Again, you'll understand when you read it. There are many references only an obsessive/very well versed AFI fan would catch on to, but it's a great read whether you catch them or not. Overall, I say go read it. The story's a lot better than the drivel you just read that's masquerading as a review/summary/background. Read it. Learn it. Love it. It's a good story.
